During its February 15 public meeting, the East Stroudsburg University Council of Trustees recognized ESU ROTC cadets.

Interning at a hospital technology department after their freshman year at East Stroudsburg University, Zach Waldman and Nick Neely got tired of having to stop projects to go fix the computers of employees who had accidently downloaded malware while clicking on ads.

East Stroudsburg University senior Olivia Hollister spent 10 weeks interning at an experimental community called Kalu Yala that is trying to become self-sustaining.

Erika Johnson, an East Stroudsburg University senior majoring in athletic training has been selected as a recipient of the Henry Schein Inc. Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Wes Jordan Scholarship Award.

Four students from East Stroudsburg University's theatre department earned honors at the Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania selected the winners for the 2018 Boddie Scholarship, Martin Luther King Jr. awards, and the Julianna V. Bolt Art Contest. The winners will be recognized at the 21st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast, which will be held on January 15 in the Mattioli Recreation Center on ESU's campus from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A total of 1,555 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Fall 2017 semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.

The East Stroudsburg University community welcomed students, faculty and staff to kick off the holiday season by signing ESUas Giant Holiday Card, a tradition now in its sixth year.

When the fall 2017 semester ended last December, 11 students at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania began preparing for the international European Union Simulation (Eurosim). As part of a political science course offered over winter break the students, accompanied by L. Johan Eliasson, Ph.D., professor of political science, participated in Eurosim in Brussels, Belgium from January 4-7, 2018. The rigorous, four-day exercise strives to enhance participants' knowledge of international law, the European Union (the world's largest single market, largest economy, and emerging political union, consisting of 28 member states), negotiating strategy, and diplomatic protocol, by negotiating real life legal and policy problems. The 2018 simulation was held at the Free University in Brussels.

A total of 419 students will receive degrees from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at the Winter Commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 16 at 9:45 a.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse. There will be 325 bachelor's degrees, 66 master's degrees and one doctoral degree awarded.

Project Turkey, a service initiative launched in 2015 with ESUas Greek organizations and Linda Van Meter, Ph.D., director of counseling and psychological services, completed its third year at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Megan U. Reinert, a graduating senior majoring in communication sciences and disorders from Saint Simons Island, Ga., was selected from a pool of student speaker candidates to serve as East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania's undergraduate student speaker for the winter commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 16, at 9:45 a.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse. Undergraduate student speaker candidates must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average entering the fall semester; a demonstrated record of service to the university community and a record of citizenship and cooperation; demonstrated evidence of meaningful extra/co-curricular involvement and must be in good academic standing.

Christopher Brooks, Dr. phil., associate professor of history, attended the 2017 Leon Silverman Lecture Series in Washington, D.C. with three East Stroudsburg University students.

Melissa Dowches, a masters degree candidate from Saylorsburg, Pa., will be the graduate student speaker for East Stroudsburg Universityas winter commencement ceremony on Saturday, December 16, at 9:45 a.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse.

Students in Professor David Mazure's Graphic Design I class created posters with messages about the importance of inclusion that will be hung around campus this month. Mazure believes it's an especially timely project given the deep divide in the country over political and social issues.

When Sarah Heidecker was growing up, her father often emphasized the importance of education. Today, Sarah is working towards her degree and uses her fatheras service to our country as motivation in her educational endeavors.

East Stroudsburg Universityas Ice Hockey team, a club sport, is currently first in the American East division and first in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) with an 8-1-2 record. Coming off of a losing season last year, ESU has rallied with a new wave of rookie players and an all-around team chemistry.

East Stroudsburg University student Elizabeth Roberts, a senior majoring in communication from Harleysville, Pa., participated in a two-day walk to benefit Multiple Sclerosis. The walk, which took place in Maryland and spanned 30 miles, worked to support the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

To help first-generation college students, ESU launched its "1st Gen" project in September. Faculty and staff who were in the first generation of their families to go to college will be invited to wear buttons that say "1ST GEN" to identify themselves on campus for current first-generation students who have questions or just want to talk to someone who was once in their shoes. As of Fall 2016, first-generation college students made up 28.5 percent of ESU undergraduates.

The East Stroudsburg University's Theatre Department will present Arthur Miller's The Crucible, October 18 and 20-22. The classic drama examines how bigoted and deceitful accusations of witchcraft in 17th-century Salem, Massachusetts created mass hysteria that resulted in the murders of innocent people.

Thanks to a grant from the East Stroudsburg University Foundation, more than 30 members of the cast and production staff of ESU's upcoming production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible were able to visit historic Salem, Massachusetts to research the sites and characters in the drama.

East Stroudsburg Universityas chapter of MEDLIFE will host the 2nd Annual MEDLIFE Dodgeball Tournament on Sunday, November 19 at 5 p.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse. The tournament is open to the public. The cost of registration is $80 per team. Teams of eight, with two substitutes, can register by searching a2nd Annual MEDLIFE Dodge Ball Tournamenta website.
