Two East Stroudsburg University students, Samantha Dietz and Alicia Kakakio, presented research to the university's Council of Trustees during their April 25 meeting. The two students were chosen by ESU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Joanne Z. Bruno, J.D., from the 175 students that presented research at ESU's annual Student Research and Creative Activity Symposium on April 10.

Thirty students and faculty members from East Stroudsburg University's department of communication sciences and disorders attended the annual convention for Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association April 10-13 in Lancaster, Pa. Several also gave presentations on research and clinical work.

When Clare Lenhart, Ph.D., associate professor of public health at East Stroudsburg University, sat down with graduate assistant Ivan Mendoza, of Sheffield Village, Ohio, to crunch the numbers from a needs assessment of community food pantries, they found some scary statistics. About 65 percent of the pantry clients surveyed had at least one of four diet-related chronic illnesses: diabetes, hypertension, heart disease or obesity. Almost 10 percent had all four. They also found that only about a third of the food given out at local food banks are considered "foods to encourage" by health standards.

Aaron Oldfield, a senior majoring in communication studies from East Stroudsburg, Pa., won first place for "best public service announcement," for a PSA titled Suicide Prevention.

This summer, Makenley Jean is going to a prestigious JPMorgan Chase & Company internship in Wilmington, Delaware. Jean, an accounting and finance major, was one of only 20 undergraduate students nationwide selected for that company's 2019 Launching Leaders program.

ESU Insider Theatre Alumna Earns Major Honor at Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

A total of 1,513 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Fall 2018 semester of the 2018-2019 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.
